There are such huge numbers of new progresss in the twenty-first century. As customers spend more clasp on the web and on itinerant gadgets all exposures of the exchange name request to tie together so they are bound to be recalled. Progressively the plans of exchange names can non be comprehended by taking a gander at their commercial. On the other hand they can be comprehended by perceiving how all features of their correspondences biological system cooperate and in exceptional how interchanges are customized for every customer and respond in existent clasp. as in a discussion ( Wikipedia. 2012 ) . In this task I chose two advertizements that are extremely famous. The initial 1 was Exhibit 5-3 in Chapter five on page 149 by the mainstream wallet accumulation Coach. Established in 1941. Mentor is one of the most acknowledged mulct accessories marks in the United States and in focused universal markets. Mentor offers premium way of life accessories to a dedicated and turning customer base and gracefully purchasers with new. significant and propelled stocks that are exceptionally acceptable made at an alluring financial worth ( Seeking Alpha. 2012 ) . The advertizement from the content uses simply a picture to introduce the message to the focused on crowd. The use of the exchange name and picture is a useful way to pass on Coach’s proposed message of the effortless effortlessness each piece great as legitimate structure and American way of its wallets ( Belch and Belch. 2012 ) . In the advertizement there is a lovely juvenile hypothetical record who depicts a truly complex articulation. the model’s make up each piece great as her accessories coordinate the little supervisor wallet each piece great as the baseball gloves. She is other than envisioned puting on a mark stuff Coach sack which gives the crowd an idea of what size the things truly is. This advertizement is focused to juvenile grown-up females who are into going and tasteful. advanced way. This was controlled by the stuff pack each piece great as the accessories in the advertizement. A youthful corporate concern grown-up female would be increasingly intrigued by this advertizement. Mentor purchasers have a particular enthusiastic association with the exchange name. Some portion of the company’s commonplace strategic to develop customer connections by hamburger uping this passionate association ( Seeking Alpha. 2012 ) . Utilizing individual channels of imparting by direct relational ( eye to eye ) contact with mark people or gatherings is distinctly a way that Coach could ensure that their strategic keeping each piece great as meat uping their passionate association with the buyers is being met ( Belch and Belch. 2012 ) . Other than since the organization is now fruitful and great known. utilizing a non individual conveying would non do any force on the organization. Mentor could use the broad communications build which is relational contact among transmitter and beneficiary, for example, a broadcasting business. print promotions. magazines. and so forth ( Belch and Belch. 2012 ) . Another channel that this organization could use would be buzz selling whi ch is other than known as expression of oral depression. The force to this channel is that non all purchasers will be 100 % happy with your product. An organization utilizing this channel completely could hold progressively negative reappraisals restricted to positive reappraisals being imparted through bombilation selling. The second advertizement that I chose was Exhibit 5-6 in Chapter five on page 152 by AARP. AARP is a non-benefit making. nonpartizan association. with a position of in excess of 37 million. that helps individuals 50 mature ages old and more seasoned. hold independency. pick and control in manners that regard them and society all in all ( AARP. 2012 ) . This advertizement shows how AARP advances the various ways merchants can make the 50 mature ages old and more established market area through its different media and limited time vehicles ( Belch and Belch. 2012 ) . On the advertizement there is a lovely. vivacious more seasoned female. This encourages the focused on crowd to perceive how glad you can in any case be beyond 50 years old. It shoes that age is nil yet a figure. You can in any case populate after 50. The advertizement gives a concise look at the changed advantages that are being offered with a position with AARP. This advertizement is plainly focused to an age gathering of work powers and grown-up females 50 mature ages old and more established. be that as it may, could other than be focused to family unit and companions of a family part in this age gathering. Since this is a more seasoned age gathering. I accept that utilizing a progressively close to home channel of conveying is ideal. People in this age bunch have more requests and all the more seeing prior executing to anything. By holding a salesperson administration as an individual channel could help the individual to comprehend the product and administration much better. The force of holding an individual channel of imparting, for example, this is if the customer does non hold a positive association with the gross incomes person. Client assistance would be extremely of import in this kind of channel. You would require a gross incomes person who is extremely quiet. also, have a great worry of the product and support what's more have th e option to elucidate this to the customer. On the off chance that the customer does non hold a decent encounter. they are probably going to permit others cognize and this would affect the bombilation selling of this product. Both of the advertizements chose could benefit from both individual and nonpersonal channels of imparting. All together for the organizations to be effective they should do sure that the advertizements are focused to the correct gathering what's more do sure that the customer administration is on point. An Study Of World History, Word Of Mouth - 1056 Words

In the study of world history, word of mouth has evolved into more persistent, permanent subject that form into books. These books has shown to effect or impact in shaping countries and throughout setting the foundations of civilizations. One book that shows this effect, is Iliad by Homer, who is a Greek philosophers. This book brings into the systematic Greek gods and goddesses into the human world and how they interact with each other. Homer reviles that there are both some positive and negative value of behaviors that can be encouraged or circumvented in a Civilization. The stories of Iliad is a story where the Greeks are fighting the Trojans during the troy war. The leaders of the Greeks is Achilles and the leaders of the Trojans is†¦show more content†¦So Apollo thought the most rationally and told the gods that they were cruel and vindictive. He wanted Hector to be respected and honored even though he was on the opposite sides, a mortal and a Trojan. Apollo showed his wisdom in treating everyone with those things whether he was Greek, Trojan, immortal or human. Homer pointed this trait out because for civilization to be equal as possible or even more modern that they must think with their brains not their emotions. This is a positive aspect trait in civilization and for people to realize that they need to think with wisdom and not always emotions. This also brings into the point that people show even though you are in a stance of power you should always give people respect and keep their honor if they are dead. One of the clearer negative towards personal behavior is the trait of fate. Now once a fate is chosen, the person may not totally be able to nor willing to challenge it. It also cannot determine every feat, occasion or occurrence however it can determine how they die. In Iliad, the fate trait is shown both in the protagonist and the antagonist. In the history of hector, and a lot of the other gods/human, who pick the fate of being considered a warrior or get into war the outcome will most likely be that they will die by the hand of someone. Hector who kills Patroclus, knows that someone will be coming after him, most likely Achilles, to try to kill him

Notes On Writing And Writing - 990 Words

From Reading To Writing Throughout my life, writing has been a positive influence. Writing was a coping mechanism and it truly helped to form the thoughts I wanted to say, although I was never able to verbalize them. Reading and writing were not pastimes until the sixth grade, when I learned that I had a hidden talent for writing journals. The teacher gave the class an assignment— to journal about what our perception of a typical day was. The writer within came out in the paper offered, and the teacher was elated with what I had written. All I needed was that little push from that assignment, and my love for writing took off. I was also interested in reading (more so then, than now). An interest in Stephen King books began in ninth grade. I loved the way he used his words to paint a picture, showing the reader what he was thinking. The second part of my writing journey started with King. At the time, my writing consisted of journaling my feelings and thoughts, however, I neede d more than that. I had what it took to write stories— not novels like King, but short stories which conveyed a message which I wanted to impart to the people who read them. Like Stephen King, I wrote horror stories, (he was the only author I read at that point in time). If I recall correctly, I wrote one story per day. While journaling was nice, I arrived at the finding that writing stories fit my style; imagination allowed for the creation of images that lived in my mind. Entrepreneurship is a career path that doesn’t always prove to be an instant success. Entrepreneurship is a field that involves determination, passion, vision, and the power to succeed. We will write a custom essay sample on October Sky or any similar topic only for you Order Now If there were anyone who can relate to these qualities, it would be Homer Hickam. Growing up in a small mining town called Coal wood, West Virginia. Homer is a teenage boy with only one future in sight; to work in the local coalmine like his father which he blatantly refused. However in October 1957, everything changes when the first artificial satellite, Sputnik goes into orbit. With that event, Homer becomes inspired to learn how to build rockets. Unfortunately, most of the town and especially Homer’s father felt that they were indeed wasting their time on trying to build a rocket. Only one teacher in the high school understood their Intention and their potential for growth and lets them know that they could become contenders in the national science fair with college scholarships being the prize. Using the qualities needed in an entrepreneur such as innovativeness, Homer displays them all and does it splendidly. Homer Hickam was a teenage boy from a mining town in West Virginia called Coal wood. He inspired to build rockets when he seen the first artificial satellite, Sputnik, streak across the stars. With his friends and the local nerd, Homer sets out to do just that but with many errors and trials his Creation was borne. Along with the town, Homer’s father thought they were wasting their time with their rockets. He wanted Homer to be a coal miner just like everyone else but Homer knew he didn’t belong there. As time went on, some people from town became interested in seeing the homemade missiles launch into the sky. The boys became popular and were known as the â€Å"Rocket boys† around town. Homer Hickam had to overcome many obstacles to get to where he wanted to be. He had to work around his father’s expectations for him to work in the mines. He had to push past his brother’s shadow to create his own legacy. Finally he had to overcome the expectations of growing up and working in the mines of Coal wood West Virginia. John is the manger so to speak of the Coal wood mine. He is a hard man with expectations for Homer to work in the mines and to grow up the same way as he did. He doesn’t like the fact that Homer is an exception to the other people in Coal wood. Homer doesn’t really think that his father cares about him or what he does with his rockets. There is a scene in the movie when John throws out all of his son’s rocket books and tools because he thinks it is a worthless â€Å"hobby â€Å"as he calls it. He finds his father does care about him and what he does by two things that happened. First, when Homer and his friends are building the launch pad, he asks his dad for some cement to use for the base. At first his father says no and then tells him there is some cement left over from a new driveway the company just built. Second, his father comes to watch Homer and the Rocket Boy’s last rocket, Homer lets his dad push the button to launch the last rocket. An Entrepreneur, according to Merriam-Webster, is one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise. Though Homer Hickam doesn’t start to build his own company or firm, he does organize and manage his dream to build a successful rocket. Going through numerous metal tubes, fuses, rocket models, and launching sites, Homer and his friends worked together, despite the criticism and doubt from Homer’s father and the rest of the town. Homer and his friends began building a rocket for the science fair, and like entrepreneurs, went into the idea of taking a risk. None of the teens were guaranteed success, however; everyone still put forth so much effort. That in itself is admirable in any individual, especially entrepreneurs. Every person has a desire to be successful. However, many people do not possess the attributes that are required in order to be successful in their lives. Success is not something that is given to just anyone. Instead, success must be earned. Success does not come easy. Success requires a person to have determination in order to be successful. In the movie, October Sky, Homer was determined to reach his goals. Everyone and everything seemed to go against Homer, like any entrepreneur, Homer and his friends not only tackled the topic of risk, but also the idea of teamwork. When starting any new business, venture or idea that isn’t solo by taking this course in entrepreneurship I am increasing my chances for success by learning all the different ways of building and running a business by How to cite October Sky, Papers

William Faulkner Essays - Modernist Literature, William Faulkner

William Faulkner William Faulkner: His Life and Achievements William Faulkner is viewed by many as America's greatest writer of prose fiction. He was born in New Albany, Mississippi where he lived a life filled with good times and bad times. However, despite bad times he would become known as a poet, a short story writer, and finally one of the greatest contemporary novelist of his time. William Faulkner's accomplishments resulted not only from his love and devotion of writing, but also from family, friends, and certain uncontrollable events. William Faulkner's life is an astonishing accomplishment; however, it is crucial to explore his life prior to his fixated writing career. In 1905, Faulkner entered the first grade at a tender age of eight, and immediately showed signs of talent. He not only drew an explicitly detailed drawing of a locomotive, but he soon became an honour-roll student: His report card would show no grades below Perfect or Excellent (Blotner 21). Throughout his early education he would work conscientiously at reading, spelling, writing, and arithmetic; however, he especially enjoyed drawing. His deportment at school was very high, but it was not as high as it was at home. When Faulkner got promoted to third grade, skipping the second grade, he was asked by his teacher what he wanted to be when he grew up, and he replied, I want to be a writer just like my great granddaddy (Blotner 23). At last, (in 1914) Faulkner took interest in poetry, but no one in Oxford could tell him what to do with his poems. Meanwhile, Faulkner, who is very talkative, would always entertain Katrina Carter and Estelle Oldham by telling them vividly imagined stories. Eventually, Faulkner grew very fond of Estelle in fact, if he heard her voice he would deliberately attempt to be spotted by Katrina in hopes that she asks him to join her. Estelle soon became the sole inspirer and recipient of Faulkner's earlier poems. Coincidentally, a gentleman named Phil Stone would fall in love with E stelle's friend, Katrina. As a result, Katrina had told Stone about Faulkner and his poetry. So one afternoon, Stone walked to Faulkner's home to get acquainted, and during his visit he received several written verses from Faulkner' poetry collections: Anybody could have seen that he (Faulkner) had talent?it was perfectly obvious (Blotner 44). Stone not only became Faulkner's close friend, but also a mentor to the young writer at the beginning of his career. Stone immediately gave the potential poet encouragement, advice, and models for his study of literature. For example, Stone would give practice drills in punctuation, as well as lecture Faulkner on goals and grammars. Meanwhile, Faulkner's main interest in school became athletics such as football and baseball, thus his grades started to deteriorate: Bill showed absolutely no interest in the education being offered?He gazed out the windows, and answered the simplest questions with ?I don't know' (Blotner 39). Eventually, he would quit both athletics and school altogether. In 1919, his first literary work was acknowledged and published in The New Republic. The poem is a forty-line verse with a French title that acknowledges the influence of the French Symbolist, L'Apres-Midi d'un Faune. In September, Faulkner would enroll in the University of Mississippi, and during his academic years it did not deter him from writing more poems. The Mississippian, the student paper, published Landing in Luck by Faulkner- the story is a nine-page short story created from his direct experience in the Royal Air Force flight training in 1916. He has also written several other poems such as Cathay, which is published in the Oxford Eagle and Sapphic, which is published in The Mississippian. During the summer, Faulkner became a house painter in Oxford, and in the beginning of autumn he enrolled in the University of Mississippi; however, his early pattern of school started to take toll. Faulkner began to cut classes and finally jus t stopped going. Although, this time he participated in a drama club called The Marionettes, and began to publish book reviews in The Mississippian. In the summer of 1921, Faulkner decided to take a trip to New York to receive some professional instructions from editors and critics, since Stone was

Efficient Energy Transportation essay

Efficient Energy Transportation essay Efficient Energy Transportation essay Efficient Energy Transportation essayToday, the environment pollution is one of the major challenges to the world and well-developed nations, such as the US, confront the problem of the consistent deterioration of the environmental situation. In this regard, the transportation system is one of the major contributors to the deterioration of the environmental situation because vehicles are the major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, transportation is one of the major sources of the environment pollution. Hence, energy efficient transportation is the major way to decrease the environment pollution and the reduction of the fuel consumption can help to reduce the environment pollution. However, the improvement of the environmental situation involves not only technological changes but also the change of the transportation culture. In actuality, the US is still facing the problem of the poor fuel efficiency because of the traditional American transportation culture and th e reduction of the fuel consumption can be achieved through the change of the transportation culture in the US along with legislative changes that will stimulate consumers and car manufacturing companies to purchase and manufacture fuel efficient vehicles respectively.At the moment, transportation contributes to over a quarter of energy consumption in the US. At the same time, transportation is one of the major sources of greenhouse gas emissions that are the major source of pollution of air and environment. Fossil fuels used as the source of energy to fuel cars cause greenhouse gas emissions, which are the major source of air and environment pollution (Teisl, Rubin, Noblet, 2008). Fuel efficiency can minimize the consumption of fuel. This is why the energy efficient transportation involves the reduction of the fuel consumption.The public grows more and more concerned about the environment pollution because the deterioration of the environmental situation leads to the deterioration of the public health and decline of the quality of life. The change of the public awareness is the result of the deterioration of the environment (Banerjee Solomon 2003). People grow more and more aware of the negative impact of greenhouse gas emissions not only on the environment but also on the health of people. However, this trend is relatively new and cannot overcome the traditional American transportation culture oriented on the use of large cars that are not fuel efficient.In addition, companies manufacturing cars tend to on the fuel efficiency to attract customers, while customers’ main driver to reduce fuel consumption and, therefore, greenhouse gas emissions is the growing price of gas. As a result, consumers prefer buying new cars, which are more fuel efficient than old ones and they prefer car models which are fuel efficient. In such a way, the consumer behavior influences policies conducted by car manufacturing companies. Car manufacturing companies attempt to m atch customers’ expectations. The growing demand of consumers for fuel efficient vehicles encourages car manufacturing companies to shift toward the development of new, fuel efficient cars.At the same time, consumers, who are conscious of the negative impact of car use on the environment, tend to change their behavior preferring bicycles to their cars or using public transport instead of their cars. However, these consumers are quite a few compared to the large mass of consumers, who still use their cars. In fact, the US consumers still prefer to use their cars, instead of public transport or bicycles. Hypothetically, the shift from private cars toward the public transport and bicycles can change consistently the level of greenhouse gas emissions because this will lead to the consistent reduction of using private vehicles and, therefore, to the respective reduction of the fuel consumption that leads to greenhouse gas emissions. However, at the moment, Americans are not ready for the total shift from using private cars to using the public transport or bicycles.On the other hand, more and more consumers prefer car pooling to save their fuel and transportation costs. This trend contributes to the energy efficient transportation because car pooling reduces the number of cars used by consumers on the regular basis since vehicles normally carry five people and car pooling allows five persons to use one car instead of five ones. In actuality, this trend becomes more and more popular in the US because it is efficient financially and allows Americans save their money and their fuel but, at the same time, car pooling saves environment because reduces the number of private cars in use and, therefore, reduces greenhouse gas emissions from private cars.In actuality, there are several factors determining the consumer behavior and influencing their transportation habits. First, economic factors play the major part in changes of the consumer behavior. For example, the economic recession of 2008 contributed to the consistent reduction of car use and overall drop of car sales in the US. The reduction of car sales was the result of the inability of Americans to purchase new cars and their desire to save money.Furthermore, the skyrocketing gas price stimulated consumers either refuse from using their cars and shift to the public transport or bicycles, or change their cars and purchase more fuel efficient cars, on the one hand, and sell their old, less fuel efficient cars instead. In addition, Americans just refused from the frequent use of their cars because they could not afford buying gas at the high price. This is why the overall reduction of car sales and use of cars caused by economic reasons resulted in the overall decline of greenhouse gas emissions caused by the US transportation.Moreover, the economic recession and high gas prices encouraged car manufacturers to focus on the production of fuel efficient cars and introduce hybrid cars, which use alternative fuels along with gas or alternative fuels alone. In fact, car manufacturers responded to the change in the customer behavior (O’Gallachoir, Howley, Cunningham, Bazilian, 2009). The economic background was the major reason for such a shift and car manufacturers just attempted to keep their cars selling. This is why fuel efficient cars were just the marketing tool that could attract customers and make them buying new cars.On the other hand, the economic recovery has contributed to the rise of car sales, wider use of cars, and the overall return of car manufacturers for the production of less fuel efficient, large cars instead of small and more fuel efficient ones. 2013 marked the consistent growth of car sales compared to 2008 that reveals the fact that the improvement of the economic situation contributes to the increase of car use and fuel consumption.Another important factor that contributes to the energy efficient transportation in the US is the transportat ion culture. To put it more precisely, the individual use of private cars is the distinct feature of the US transportation culture (Hensher, 2007). Moreover, Americans are accustomed to use large cars, which are not fuel efficient. For example, Americans tend to use large cars and disregard their fuel efficiency, while Europeans tend to buy small cars, which are suitable for driving in European cities with narrow streets and are more fuel efficient compared to American cars (De Witte, Macharis Mairesse, 2008). Therefore, the American transportation culture tends to disregard fuel efficiency.  In response to the growing public pressure, the US authorities, including the US Department of Energy, attempt to develop policies aiming at the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions along with the reduction of fossil fuel consumption. At the moment, the US authorities focus on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the energy efficiency by means of the introduction of ener gy efficient policies in all industries. In this regard, transportation plays an important part in the reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. However, the government focuses on the commercial transport mainly to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For example, the US government stimulates the reduction of the fuel consumption by commercial vehicles offering recommendations contributing to the higher fuel efficiency along with the Department of Energy regulations that help to minimize the fuel consumption by commercial vehicles.Thus, the US is still the country, where the efficient energy transportation is rather a future opportunity than a part of the present life. In spite of the growing consciousness of Americans of the negative impact of greenhouse gas emissions caused by their cars on their environment and health along with efforts of the government to encourage the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by transport, Americans still prefer using their private cars, instead of using the public transport or bicycles.

Cover Letter Tip from The Essay Expert What Color is Your Cover Letter

Cover Letter Tip from The Essay Expert What Color is Your Cover Letter The content of most cover letters that come across recruiters desks are bland and unexciting. They sound like everyone elses letters. I call them gray. And gray doesnt stand out. It just blends into the background. Get the hiring managers attention with this cover letter tip. Cover Letter Tip:  Add Some Color! Start with a Splash Even the first paragraph of your cover letter can make you stand out. Sure, you need to tell them what job youre applying for, and where you found out about it, but you dont have to end there. To get their attention, say something about what you understand about the companys needs, and why youre the person to meet those needs. Most people dont take the time to tailor cover letters, so any mention of specifics about the company youre applying to will distinguish you from your competitors. Time for a Paint Job The gray cover letters I tend to see include language like this: I believe my skills and qualifications are a perfect match for the available position. I have spent the last ten years gaining experience in X. At job A, I did B, where I gained experience in C. At job D, I did E, and gained experience doing F. At job G, I did H, and learned J. I therefore feel that I would be an asset to your company. I hope you agree with me that its time for a makeover! Painting Your Passion Stop blending into the background! Your cover letter is a valuable opportunity to paint yourself in bright, eye-catching descriptionsas someone who would bring personality and flair to a position, or true problem solving or negotiating skills, or, at the very least, some passion. How do you do that? Tell a story that shows them who you are. If I were writing a cover letter, for instance, I might talk about how I won the trust of a contract manager who had been ready to pull a contract from my organization. One of my clients wrote about how he successfully negotiated a conflict at work and obtained payment from a customer who was refusing to pay. Another wrote about his quest for the perfect problem to solve. These stories will catch an employers eye and paint a picture of a real person, with experience and attributes that reach beyond a list of resume bullets. Take My Advice! Id like to share with you the following letter, which I received from a student at the University of Wisconsin: I feel like a naive kid who was suddenly given a cover letter awakening. I took your advice and changed almost everything. I am ashamed to call the last documents I sent you cover letters. I wouldnt have wanted to interview me. Sad. In these new cover letters, every sentence gives information that cannot be gathered from my resume. I really tried to pour some personality and passion into these and keep the readers attention. I can actually be proud of these letters. This student says it well. Give them new information, NOT a regurgitation of your resume. Pour in some personality (purple?), passion (red?) Throw in some anecdotes (green?) And you too will be able to say you are proud of your cover letters. With this cover letter tip, youll be a lot more likely to get that interview, where you really get to show them who you are. Want help with your cover letters? Procopius secret history Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Procopius secret history - Essay Example Justinian is presumed to be of average height, he is not tall or short. He is also described as moderately flabby and not thin. The author continues to describe Justinian as healthy looking. His physical appearance is not affected even when he fasts for two days. In contrast, Justinian has a different character from his attractive appearance (Halsall 1). This makes it difficult to describe Justinian. Justinian is illustrated as amenable and villainous. People may refer to him as a moron. Justinian is never honest with any individual, but all the time crafty in his actions and words. Nonetheless, he is tricked by any person who wants to delude him. In addition, Justinian’s personality is an unusual mixture of wickedness and foolishness. His contradictory characteristics combine in his makeup. Justinian’s Administration Justinian changes the country’s laws and regulations as soon as he takes charge. He reintroduces into the administration whatever elements of the s ociety that are forbidden. In contrast, Justinian repeals all customs or practices that were previously set up. Moreover, Justinian abolishes existing agencies and creates different ones to manage the public issues of the state. He also alters the structures of the army. He changes the regulations and laws of the military. He makes all these changes, not for any advantage or improvement of justice, but to make everything recent and named after him (Halsall 1). His foolishness is further highlighted when he renames institutions and structures he is unable to alter. Justinian also does everything to acquire property, including looting and killing. He accumulates property through looting. He grabs the houses of the wealthy and searches for more property. He shares a part of his loot with barbarians. Justinian’s Laws He has a thought of killing more people in the state and gaining more property. He promotes frontier warfare, and civil strife to conquer the Romans. He creates a ne w way of eliminating his people. He sets up new laws that abolish previous religious beliefs, for example, he calls for the abolishment of heresies, used by the Christian faithful in the Roman Empire. He replaces the religious beliefs with the orthodox dogma, theeatening. For example, he proposes loss of the heretic’s entitlement to give possessions to his household or further relatives. These laws make the heretic churches extra wealthy. These depict a vast wealth disparity between the heretic churches and the entire Roman Empire administration (Halsall 1). He also enforces a law that prosecutes offences regardless of the time they occur. Period of Existence The writer lived in a period of dictatorship and inadequate freedom. This is because this period had a lot of restraints. There are a number of suggestions that the administration of Justinian has not been efficient as perceived. People were forced to move from the state to other areas (Halsall 1). The people spread to d ifferent cities and countries. This is because they were escaping prosecution from the administration. Conclusion From the beginning, the resource characterizes Justinian as an individual with different characters from his appearance. This is because he never practices honesty with any person and is always crafty in his actions and words. He is also depicted as evil and foolish because he get whatever he wants through any means and can be easily tricked by anyone. The work

handball :: essays research papers

Goal Tending   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  When playing goalie in team handball, the most important thing to do is make yourself as big as possible. This can be done can be done in a few ways. One way to make yourself bigger is to get your arms up in the air and stand tall. Your arms should be in the air at about 45 degree angles with your palms facing out and fingers spread wide. Your legs should be positioned in a stance wider than shoulder width. This way you are able to kick away low shots and are already in a good position to move side to side.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The second way a goalie can make themselves bigger is to cut down the angle that the offensive player has to shoot. They can do this be moving toward the shooter while they are approaching or winding up. But, you have to be careful that you do not come up to far because then they can shoot a lob shot over you. When the goalie is moving around the goal face according to where the ball is being passed by the offensive team, the goalie should shuffle their feet along an imaginary arc across the goal. The top of the arc is about one meter from the goal line. The reason for the arc goes with the cutting down the angle theory, be doing this the goalie has a better chance of reaching just to the corners. Another important rule that the goal keeper must follow is that they have to defend the near post when there is a chance of a shot from the wing. To do this they actually can wrap their arm around the post to make it impossible for a shot to get through. This also makes it easier for the defender to channel the shot if they know the post is shut-off.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  If an offensive player takes a shot and the goalie touches the ball then it goes over then end line it becomes a goalie throw.

Montage and New Wave Film Essay

The differences between soviet montage and French new wave cinema are interesting and many. Both genres of film seek to create contrast between adjacent shots via discontinuity editing, but subtle differences in their editing styles allow this contrast to produce very different results. In French new wave editing is used to both draw the audience in, and push them away, it draws the audience’s attention and inspires distaste. Soviet montage on the other hand uses editing not as a method of controlling the audience’s focus, but as a way to create ideas. An analysis of the editing in the Godard’s â€Å"Breathless† and Eisenstein’s â€Å"Battleship Potemkin† will highlight these different effects. In â€Å"Breathless†, the first use of editing to keep the audience’s attention is in the scene where Micheal shoots the cop. In this scene Goddard makes use of editing to twist and distort time. The audience hears the cop tell Micheal â€Å"Stop, or i’ll kill you† in a calm voice at nearly the same time that Micheal cocks the gun. Immediately thereafter we jump cut to Micheal firing the gun and jump cut again to the police office falling to the ground as he is shot. From a narrative point of view it is understood that these events do not take place so close to each other. The events happen in much too quick a succession to mimic reality. The jump cuts elapse time in an odd uncomfortable manner. It can be argued that this is jarring, and distasteful, but it is exactly this jarring and distaste that makes this scene so fascinating. Rushing through the event which is clearly the inciting action of the film (flying in the face of CHC) yields a certain fascination with this scene that typical CHC could not hope to match. An effect similar to the one described above is present in the scene where Micheal and Patricia track down Micheal’s money in the taxi. This exemplifies the use of new wave editing to focus the audience’s attention on the visual. In this scene, the visual difference between shots is minimal. If one were to imagine it without the jump cuts it would be long and monolithic but the prolific use of jump cuts counters this would-be-dullness. Once again the jump cuts elapse time and quickens the pace of the scene artificially. The audience hears Micheal barking orders at the drive in succession that is faster that he speaks in the story, and they understand that this artificial fast precisely because of the jump cuts and he obviousness in which they are presented. In this way Goddard is able to present a potentially long and dull car ride in the story much faster in the plot. Unlike the previously discussed scene, this scene does not quicken the pace past the point of comfort, it is intentionally fast paced and helps to excite the audience. First lets take the Odessa Steps scene from â€Å"Battleship Potemkin†. This scene feels almost as if it is a CHC film. Shots are spliced together smoothly and invisibly. The audience is never jarred by

Political Parties - 786 Words

Chapter Seven Essay--Trace the development of political parties during Washingtons administration and describe their basic philosophies. George Washington was the very first President of the United States. This was such a huge role to take on, not only because of his duties as President, but because it was also setting a precedent for future U.S. Presidents and the federal government as a whole. During Washington’s presidency, many political parties and departments were set up, each with a certain role in the federal government, and many with different ideological views. Washington’s first order of business was to establish his Cabinet. The Department of State, under the first secretary Thomas Jefferson, was responsible for U.S.†¦show more content†¦As far as the constitution, the Federalists believed that the federal government had implied rights to pretty much everything, even if it wasn’t specifically written in â€Å"black and white† in the U. S. Constitution. They were also big proponents for national banks, tariffs, and good relation with Britain. The Republican Party’s first leader was Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson was from a much different lifestyle than Hamilton, so a lot of their political ideologies differed in many ways. For example, Jefferson believed in a limited federal government to protect the states’ rights and the rights of its people. They believe that the people of this country could in fact govern themselves and should have a big say in the laws of their state, and their country. This is where their views differ when it comes to the Constitution, because the Republicans believed that the constitution, and the Bill of Rights set in place specific rules and regulations and rights for not only the people of the United States, but the governing bodies as well. To them there was no â€Å"gray area† when it came to government rights and people’s rights, they were â€Å"set in stoneà ¢â‚¬ . Republicans believed that the closer the relationship between the government and its people, the better off the country would be, because it allows the people being governed to have a say in what is being done.
